50 Sounds Of Summer - Volume 2!

Added 20 May 2014 by Peter
Podcorp, May 2014: While tending to my beautiful tomato plants in the garden of STYH on a sunny afternoon last week, a mild case of depression set in... It's been a while since the airwaves of the interwebbo were set on fire by a succession of kick-ass tunes, all in one neat little package tied up with a funky bow.

On April 16th, the podcast officially went on holiday - a holiday of an indeterminate length of time. After 50 well-received Mix Shows, and a huge stack of special edition podcasts featuring interviews with the likes of Manic Street Preachers, Toploader and Dodgy, it felt like the right time to hang up the mic' for a short while.

So, pretty much exactly one month to the day of Mix Show 50 - dubbed "The final podcast... for now", we felt that some kind of contact was required between us, and you, our dear listeners. While real-life has a habit of getting in the way of the podcast, the sunshine did present us with an excuse to put together our second summer compilation podcast, after last year's first summer edition went down so well.

So, the archive trawling began, and we picked 50 of the tracks from the last 25 podcasts that we felt best encapsulated how this summer should sound. The three-hour podcast, features 50 of the world's best tracks by the planet's lesser-known bands and singers - who all share one thing in common: If you play the podcast through loudspeakers, nobody will complain. The tracks sum up everything that a summer's day should be - fun, upbeat, memorable.

After a (not too long) verbal introduction, the songs are let loose, played back to back, and uninterrupted. Try it - You might just like it.

You can grab the podcast by following the links from the homepage of this website - and if you enjoy it, why not check out Volume 1 (2013) of the podcast too? That's 100 great summer tracks for the price of none.

If you like the show, please spread the word verbally - We're looking to build the audience, and can't do it without you - the STYH virtual street-team.

Your ongoing support is much appreciated, and we hope to have your ears again soon, for Mix Show 51.
